Earth Day is April 22: Here’s Where To See Blooms In Washington, D.C.
One of our favorite parts of Washington, D.C. is despite it being a city full of shops, restaurants, monuments and more, it’s still remarkably green – and the perfect place to celebrate Earth Day without venturing too far from home. On Earth Day on April 22, you can do just that by checking out Washington, D.C. gardens.
These local gardens are full of everything from roses to fountains to greenery to wildflowers. Visit under the city sunshine for a taste of Earth Day and to get your fill of some of the most beautiful flowers in the area!
Constitution Gardens, located at Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. which is a 10 minute walk from your Wray apartment, was created for the 1976 bicentennial, reverting temporary offices to park space. Curving paths meander around a constructed pond which serves as a home to wildlife and a pleasant, natural place to unwind in downtown Washington, D.C.
Constitution Gardens is a living legacy to the founding of the republic as well as a 50-acre oasis in the midst of a city landscape. In the pond, look for the 56 Signers of the Declaration of Independence Memorial on Signers Island. The island is accessible by a footbridge on the north side of the pond.
German-American Friendship Garden, located at 1600 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. which is seven minutes from your Wray apartment, is composed of multiple planting beds, native plant species from each of the two countries and the original pair of fountains that flanked the garden — all welcoming visitors to learn more about the long-standing friendship and diplomacy between the U.S. and Germany.
Situated between the White House Ellipse and the Washington Monument, the German-American Friendship Garden was first dedicated on November 15, 1988, by President Ronald Reagan and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to commemorate 300 years of immigration and friendship between the two nations.
