Celebrate Pi Day on March 14 With a Slice Of One of These Pizza Pies

BY Blog Editor

You don’t need to be a math expert to get in on the fun of Pi Day, which is the annual celebration of the mathematical constant π that is held on March 14. Instead, all you need is a pizza slicer.

This Pi Day, leave the math problems at your Wray apartment and instead, head to one of these pizzerias near home for a “pie” that everyone can get in on. Whether you’re into pepperoni, Hawaiian or just a plain pie, these pizzas are our favorite way to celebrate this funky holiday.

Pizzeria Paradiso, located at 2003 P St NW, Washington, D.C. which is seven minutes from your Wray apartment, is an easygoing restaurant with a central oven for wood-fired pizzas, plus a menu of international beers.

The restaurant founders opened Pizzeria Paradiso so they could make the kind of pizza they longed for but couldn’t find in the D.C. area. To create that pizza, they started with a wood-burning, domed, stone oven able to cook at a temperature of 650 degrees and above. Then, they placed the oven at the heart of the restaurant so guests would feel the warmth and comfort of its glow.

il Canale, located at 1065 31st St NW, Washington, D.C. which is seven minutes from your Wray apartment, offers thin-crust pizza from a wood-fired oven plus pasta and antipasti in a cozy exposed-brick dining room.

The mastermind behind the Il Canale’s success is an old school Italian born in Sicily, Joe Farruggio, whose dream has always been to create the family restaurant where Washingtonians and visitors from all over the world could enjoy authentic pizza Napolitana made with organic flour. Il Canale’s is known for its authentic Verace pizza Italiana and is the only restaurant in D.C. to receive the top culinary honor from the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce and the National Institute of Tourism.
